This town was once an agricultural hotspot, naturally educated by the Noyyal river - one of the tributaries of the river Kaveri - that flows close to the place. However, sometime in the 1976, this place so the transformation from being and agricultural hub to becoming a hub for textile based industries. This Revolution resulted in a lot of agricultural land owners selling off their lands to build textile related companies and warehouses.
